Lorde in Celine Sunglasses

I love Lorde. I love her album "Pure Heroine." I'm not too keen on her style but when I saw her sunglasses, I was like damn! BECAUSE I WANTED THOSE SUNNIES! REALLY REALLY BADLY!

Here she is in Celine Papillon Sunglasses.

Review:
So I love Phoebe Philo, I love Celine handbags and definitely loving Celine's new range of sunglasses. Celine started out with "Original" which is a square wayfarer which I was not crazy. Until they unveiled those amazing clear with different color palettes on the temples. The Audrey one was the sunnies I was crazy, then they came out with a lot of sunnies like ZZ Top, New Pretty, those chain temples and now this Papillon.

Papillon means butterfly in French and I gues they have a butterfly shape. I think when Celine does something, it becomes a classic. They are a variation of the Emmanuelle Khan cat eye sunglasses that were spotted in Rihanna's "You Da One" and on Doutzen Kroes (Google them) Zac Posen also made his own version with Illesteva named "Safari" and now Celine does it with Papillon. Oh wait, UNIF also has their own with Shadys model. (PS Don't buy them on Dollskill) So that's a lot of houses making the same style of sunnies (yes, that's how addicted I am. I do my research. LOL.)

As for this, they are a softer version. Wait til you see the others. OK, I'll upload them!

Here:
Emmanuelle Khan  (vintage)

UNIF The Shadys (the cheapest of the three, 60 USD only!)

Zac Posen x Illesteva Safari

See? Celine Papillon is the least pointiest right? LOLS.

Anyways, when I saw them I never thought Lorde would be the one I first spotted them in. I really thought Anna dello Russo would wear them first or Rihanna. Oh well.

I love them and they look great on her!
Rating: 5 out of 5 -PERFECTION!

Buy them here (more colors) or here. (black only)

BAFTA 2014

Ok so the BAFTAs came and the red carpet fashion was dizzying. Is this black tie or casual? Because it was a mix of both. Kalerks!

Anyways for best dressed. Eeekkkk! I can't help but gush about my best dressed... IT'S ANGELINA JOLIE IN A SAINT LAURENT SUIT. Yes! A suit! I mean, I should be giving this to Amy Adams for her sexy and vampy Victoria Beckham gown but Angie killed it with her style and attitude. I love you gurl! Bow down bitches!

He's wearing Valentino, she's wearing Saint Laurent. This two just makes me wanna scream! I want a red carpet moment like that! PAK!
Lily Allen in Vivienne Westwood - I love the color combo. The effort was much appreciated! :D
Uma Thurman in Atelier Versace - You know simplicity is beauty? This is where that applies. PERFECT! Loves it!
Oprah Winfrey in Stella McCartney- Love the gown. I'm not crazy about the hair styling. I think big hair would look good but I don't know the situation here.
Ruth Wilson in Antonio Berardi - Uhmmm.... The fit is off. This type of trousers are for skinny women.
Naomie Harris in Gucci - Ay may governement luncheon? CHOZ! Very madame! I'm on the fence with this one.
Olga Kurylenko in Burberry - I quite like it. I wished her hair was pushed back. It looks sexier. Hahaha.
Josephine de la Baume in Marios Schwab - The who? Anyways, wish the sleeves were cut an inch short. It just bugs me.
Lea Seydoux in Miu Miu - Now the Miuciia Prada x Lea Seydoux red carpet moments are amazing! Consistent. Well Lea was there for "Blue is the Warmest Color." hahaha. But I love this dress. The Prada quirk is always there. Love you gurl!
Dame Helen Mirren in Jacques Azagury- She never fails to impress me. You go gurl!
Gillian Anderson in vintage Balmain- Aw! Vintage Balmain! Seeing Balmain now, aren't you shocked? Well it was Christophe Decarnin who was responsible for the radical change mostly because it was his style. Anyways, I am loving this. Even if it's not vintage, I would still love it.
Laura Carmichael in Erdem - Not loving this look for the event. Love the shoes though.
Amy Adams in Victoria Beckham - She just gets it. I love this dress so much! And I love Victoria Beckham for this! I love her even more!!!
Lupita Nyong'o in Dior Couture - I love Lupita because she loves color. I love the simplicity of this look. Quite monotonous from her other red carpet looks but she is continuing to dazzle us. Keep it up gurl! Can't wait for your Oscars look.

Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen - SUPER UNDERWHELMING. Why can't McQueen make a better gown. She does not deserve this.
Prince William - INFIDELITY! CHOZ! That was the head of the BAFTAs. Wish Kate Middleton was there. He presented an award to Helen Mirren.
Bradley Cooper in Alexander McQueen- Just have to post him! He's sooooo dreamy!
Maggie Gyllenhaal in Lanvin- Maggie's a red carpet risk taker and while I applaud her, I wish the sleeves were different. That's my only complaint. Yes! That's it.
Eddie Redmayne and Haley eklavu both in Gucci - I don't know the name of his girlfriend and I don't intend to find out. Eddie is one of my dream husbands so back off bitch! LOL! Anyways, she looks like a pilgrim or something like that. And I will forever love Eddie through all haircuts.
Imogen Poots in Givenchy - Now this was presented in the Spring 2014 runway in gold and it looks horrible. This is much better. Kim wore this in black and I still can't get that horrible image off my mind. But I will forever love Givenchy for makin Kim "custom made" looks and making her look horrible. They must hate Kim so much that they don't care the brand is associated with her just so she can look horrible. HAHAHAHA!

Isabel Marant x Oliver Peoples

Didn't I tell you? Wahahaha! Well, Isabel Marant already said it so it's not like it was a fashion scoop exclusively by us but now you get to see the real thing. We saw 2 shapes, an oversized round one and an aviator one. So, there's not much to it. And they retail for $365.

From Vogue.fr:
"  On the heels of his 2010 collaboration with Balmain, Oliver Peoples has now joined forces with Parisian designer Isabel Marant to create a limited-edition collection of sunglasses. Available from February, the collection takes cues from Isabel Marant’s rock ‘n’ roll romantic aesthetic with two pairs of sunglasses designed with a distinctly seventies vibe.  As for the designs, ‘Daria’, boasting a round, slightly oversized  shape and ‘Matt’, boasting a twist on the classic aviator, will both be available to customize with one of five colored lens choices ranging from pink to light gray. Each is sold with a sunglasses box, fabric pouch and cleaning cloth featuring Marant’s favorite character, Mr Hatman, making the result a stylish mini collection with a distinctly Californian feel – just in time for Marant to celebrate the one-year anniversary of her LA store.

The Isabel Marant x Oliver Peoples’ sunglasses are €365 each and will be available from February in Isabel Marant boutiques, Oliver Peoples’ stores and select international vendors."

So for the price it says 365 EUR so I'm not sure about 365 USD although I've read somewhere that it's 425 USD. I don't know why it's that expensive. Maybe the lenses are quite expensive.

Here are the designs:
The round oversized are named "Daria" after Daria Werbowy I guess. Hehehe
And the aviator is called "Matt" I don't know why maybe it's the name of her son.

So if you know me, you know I'm quite disappointed. The shapes are tired and boring. I wish it had the Isabel Marant aesthetic which is taking something that's there and raising it to a whole new level. She should't have gone for the safe route. Well, anyways thet do are effortless styles like Isabel Marant. I mean the Balmain for Oliver Peoples were amazing. I wish Isabel would do a second collection.

Anyways, ta-ta for now! :)

Why was Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2014 Couture Collection not featured in Style.com?

The drama was not only in the clothes but also among industry insiders.

So everyone knows that to check out runway photos, you go to Style.com. This is why Style.com editors are always present in every show so they can review it. And with every review, there will always be a positive and of course, the negative which they all try to avoid.

While we were all drooling over clothes that we can never afford during the presentation of the Spring 2014 couture (we were also making checklists as to who will wear what to the Oscars), I noticed that on Style.com’s front page, Jean Paul Gaultier was not on the list. Jean Paul Gaultier presented his Spring 2014 couture collection on the same day as Armani Prive, Maison Martin Margiela, and Elie Saab. So, it’s quite shocking not to see Gaultier in the list.

Gaultier is nowhere to be seen on the list for Spring 2014 Couture

Although he is in the Fall 2013 Couture List

Well, we can assume one reason. It was Tim Blank’s review of Gaultier’s Fall 2013 couture collection. So here’s what’s written on Style.com: “Jean Paul Gaultier works a theme like a last nerve.... Benattia (a French comedian Gaultier casted) seemed a bit down-market.... A few outfits later, a ‘millefeuille de mousselines’ echoed Yves Saint Laurent's way with color, as a reminder that Gaultier was once considered the one true heir to the throne of French fashion. But that was once upon a time, and that time has, sad to say, well and truly passed.”

Gaultier responded with an open letter. Here it is:
“Dear Tim,
Once upon a time you liked my shows “but that time has truly passed” and I respect it. But the Tim I knew before would never have made the attacks that are more personal than proffesional [sic]. I always had girls in my shows from different social strata, treating someone as down-market is cheap.
In future, rather than be bored at my shows, you can use that time to do something else, for example brush up on your fashion history so you’ll kow that “mille feuille de mousseline” didn’t echo Saint Laurent, it was inspired by a Nina Ricci dress from 1967 in homage to Gerard Pipard who recently passed away.
If you’re nostalgic for the time when I was considered the one true heir to the throne of French fashion please buy a ticket for my exhibition now in Stockhold [sic] and soon in Brooklyn and London. Good Visit.
A former yours in fashion
Jean Paul Gaultier”

So maybe it was only Tim Blanks who was available for Gaultier’s show and he passed instead. But if you want a head scratcher, Tim Blanks reviewed Gaultier’s Spring 2014 ready to wear. While we all love drama, let’s all hope that no one was just available to review or the photographer of Style.com ran out of memory or something. I am hoping to see the photos and the details on Style.com especially since Dita Von Teese walked in the show. And of course, the clothes looked amazing as well. :)
